A Glimpse Into the Bag of a Gym Rat

In this day and age, a lot of people go to gym. However, there is a great difference between people who visit the gym once in a while and those who cannot imagine their daily routine without it. Between these two groups almost every single aspect greatly differs, starting with the way they work out to the way they pack their bags. Speaking of which, here is a short insight into the bag of a standard gym rat.

Water Bottle

First thing first, arduous training is bound to keep you heavily sweating. This is why, you need to keep the water bottle at you all the time in order to keep yourself hydrated. Some prefer to do so with various forms of energy drinks, but when it comes to this a fresh clean water simply has no substitute. Sure, you don’t want to be either, which is why you don’t need to drink everything that you have packed. Still, it is always better to bring more than you need rather than less.

Nutrition Bar

Another thing you need to worry about is carrying something along for snacks. You see, if you eat right before the training, you risk getting nauseated and underperforming during an important exercise. On the other hand, by not eating for hours you can enter the state of starvation and repeat the same mistake. This is why, it is always handy to have a nutrition bar at your side in order to replenish your energy when you most need it. There are even those who prefer to use for such purpose.

Extra Set of Clothes

Now, this one is absolutely paramount. Sure, wearing an extra set of clothes takes a lot of room in your bag, but you never know when you are going to need them. You would be surprised how often it happens that someone spills their water (or the aforementioned energy drink) over your apparel. This is why, it is always a good idea to have a back-up plan and pack an extra t-shirt and an in your bag.

Chalk

Finally, even those with the firmest hand can sometimes suffer from a loose grip. Needless to say, once you start adding a bit more to the weight bar, any a misstep may have some serious repercussions. However, by packing a bit of chalk in your bag you can virtually ensure that such a thing never happens. Word of advice, some gyms have a policy against using chalk, which is why you should always ask before you use it. It never hurts to check right?

Conclusion

Sure, some people like wearing an extra roll of toilet paper, flip-flops, makeup or even a charger to the gym, but these items are strictly situational. On the other hand, the above-mentioned four items are something that no real gym rat ever leaves their home without. Each of them is there to take care of your performance, your health and your safety while at the gym and neither of these things is to be underestimated.
